One of the oldest stone dams in Central Europe, built in years 1894 – 1897. It was declared a technical monument thanks to its technical solution. Currently used mostly for fishing and recreation.
After the destruction of the old castle in 1421 the Zajímač family from Kunštát built a new castle on the opposite hill which was first mentioned in 1432. Soon – in 1468 - new castle withstood an attempt to conquest by the army of King Matthias Corvinus. The Jevišovice line of the Kunstat dynasty rebuilt castle into a renaissance chateau in 16th century, as evidenced by the inscription on the stair tower dated 1564; then the castle was held by them until their extinction in the male line in 1587, when it was bequeathed to princes of Minsterberk by heiress Catherine.
In the early '80s of 17th century Louis Raduit de Souches (1608 - 1683) built a wooden baroque hunting lodge in the south of the city. In 1879, Karel Locatelli built a building in its place that survived unchanged up to this day. Larisch-Mönnich family was its last private owner. Today the castle is used as a retirement home.
The castle was founded sometime before 1289 by a prominent Kunštát dynasty, that date they were mentioned here for the first time. Although the dynasty was eminent, its Jevišovice line was definitely not propertied.
Parish St. Joseph church from1830. There is located an organ from 1748 in this church (Anton Richter workshop from Brno). Every Sunday a holy mass takes place from 8.00 am in here.
At the Hussite time Jevisovice was a movement bastion of Znojmo, and therefore a memorial was built on the local hill Žalov, with a typical symbol of Hussites- cup.
Fairy tale, horror or harsh reality? All these concepts could fit to a new tour of Znojmo underground. In a closed circuit outside the traditional guided tour you will find fabulous character, an alchemist's workshop, animated rock and a sample of prison dungeons.
Historical Znojmo and St. Hippolyt fort is separated by an extremely deep valley of Gránice creek. In the Middle Ages the valley was maintained entirely deforested for strategic reasons due to the possibilities of the bombardment from the city walls and castle fortress. When the Regeneration and Afforestation Association was found in Znojmo in 1878, they set up a generous project in cooperation with the town authorities for the next two decades - building a forest park in Gránice.
The smallest national park in the Czech Republic, promulgated in 1991, extends over an area of 63 km square on the border with Austria. Since 2000 it creates together with the Austrian National Park Thayatal wider border region with the highest degree of conservation. The deeply cut and meandering canyon of Thaya river is bilateral axis of the national park.
The most precious cultural heritage of Znojmo. Although its origin is still an open question for experts, the final analysis put the construction of royal shrine to 80s of 11th century, when appanage Duke Conrad I of Bohemia (1035 - 1092) was founding new Přemyslide castle in Znojmo (the original administrative center was in the fort at that time). The massive Romanesque rotunda towers on the highest point of the high rocky promontory of forecastle, just before the entrance to the inner Přemyslide castle.
Romanesque-Gothic St.Procopius Basilica is a jewel of European architecture. In 2003 it was registered on UNESCO's World Cultural and Natural Heritage.
The presence of Jewish ethnicity in Třebíč, eventually in its immediate vicinity has been reported from the 1st half of 14th Century (1338) and the early 15th century (before 1410), but we can not say anything definite about the numbers nor the establishment (Podklášteří) of then Jewish community. On the threshold of early modern Jews were expelled from the dominion by John Jetrich Cernohorsky from Boskovice (sometime between 1528 to 1546) and his decision was confirmed by Jan of Pernstein in 1547.
Vranov chateau situated on the southern border of the Czech state about 110 km from Vienna, belongs to the most mundane examples of Central European Baroque. It was rebuilt from lordly Romanesque-Gothic castle, which was first mentioned in 1100.
The first written mention of Bítov comes from the constituent instrument of the chapter house in Stara Boleslav, dated to 1046. The core of the instrument allows the assumption that the castle Bítov was founded by Prince Břetislav I (1003-1055).
Vranov dam is one of the warmest dams in the Czech Republic. The water temperature often allows bathing from the beginning of June and the summer season ends here only in the first half of September. Water quality in the dam is long rated as very good.
